So, today, I’m going to share a quick sure-fire recipe you can use for your Sunday roast chicken, beef, pork, lamb or whatever roast meat!Ante/Postnatal Fitness Expert

If you’ve checked out the contents of the gravy granules lurking in your cupboard recently, you’ll see things such as:

  • Maltodextrin,
  • Flavour enhancers,
  • Colours,
  • E numbers (at least 4),
  • Salt,
  • Chicken/Turkey/Beef Powder,
  • Emulsifiers, and
  • Palm Oil

I think you’d agree, these ingredients are far from ‘clean’.  In fact, they’re quite processed, aren’t they?

If you’d like to produce a less processed gravy for your Sunday roast, which doesn’t even contain flour, try this:

  1. onion, roughly sliced
  2. 2 celery sticks, roughly sliced
  3. 5-6 mushrooms, sliced
  4. 1 leek, sliced
  5. 2 garlic cloves, diced
  6. olive oil,
  7. salt and pepper
  8. herbs to taste (rosemary, oregano, sage, thyme)

  1. place all of the vegetables and garlic on your baking try
  2. put a good glug of olive oil in the pan and mix the vegetables around to coat them
  3. season with salt and pepper
  4. sprinkle with fresh or dried herbs (if using them)
  5. place your meat on top of the vegetable ingredients and roast for desired time
  6. when your meat has cooked, remove it from the pan and set meat aside to rest
  7. transfer vegetable mixture to saucepan to heat through
  8. add a little bit of water to the mixture
  9. grab your handblender or transfer mixture to blender and blitz

Your mixture should be creamy, salty, thick and flavourful!

Give it a try and let me know how you get on.
