What is the Little Black Dress Workout?
It’s a fun, fat-burning, full-body workout which is designed to burn off those excess calories. This is no ordinary exercise class – it’s a workout.
How is the class different from other workouts?
The Little Black Dress Workout is effective and it gives you results. Gone are the days when slow, continuous-paced aerobic or dance-based exercise is used to burn off excess fat. Interval-training, where your heart rate goes into different intensity zones, coupled with toning and corework is much, much effective for weight loss. The Little Black Dress Workout drastically improves your fitness level, tones your arms, legs and abdominals.
What’s the format of the class?
We start off with a basic warm-up to get your muscles warm, then go straight into the first cardio interval to really get your heart rate pumping. Then, after 2-3 minutes, you stop, take a drinks break, and do some toning exercises like lunges and/or squats, standing core work, or upper body exercises to really tone up your arms. This cycle of cardio for 2-3 minutes, followed by toning for 2-3 minutes is repeated with different toning exercises throughout the class, for a full-body workout. Mat-based Pilates exercise and a nice cooldown stretch at the end completes your class.
Yes! The Little Black Dress Workout is suitable for people who regularly exercise, play a sport, run or jog, and suitable for those who’ve had a break from fitness, whatever the reason. Claire Mockridge is an experienced Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor, and puts her class lesson plans together cleverly to accommodate everyone present. If you have any back/knee/neck problems, have had a baby recently, or you haven’t partcipated in exercise for some time, then this workout is just what you need. High and low-impact options are explained throughout the cardio sessions, and up to 4 levels of each toning exercise are demonstrated so you workout stays safe, effective and challenging for you, as an individual. The Little Black Dress Workout is just that – a workout!
How do I sign up?
Enrolling on the Little Black Dress Workout is simple. Just fill in a Registration Form, then pay online using Paypal, and consider your place reserved.
Do I have to sign up for a month at a time?
Yes. The Little Black Dress Workout is a popular class and often runs with waiting lists, and the only way Claire can ensure everyone’s space is safely reserved is by asking all of her participants to sign up to a month of classes at a time.
You’ll need to wear comfortable sports clothing and trainers on your feet and bring along a bottle of water, your own exercise mat and a small towel to use for some of the exercises throughout the class.
Is the class set to music?
Some sections of the Little Black Dress Workout are set to music, others not. It depends on what the exercise is eg it might be more appropriate for you to “work at your pace”, rather than “to the beat of the music”, so you get the best workout possible for you. Claire uses music tracks from the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s to energise and uplift you, and make you feel as though you’re not even working out. Music’s a huge motivator for some.
